James SWEENEY and Margaret LYNCH
James SWEENEY died sometime between 1835 and 1850 in Ireland.
Margaret LYNCH (c.1812-1890) was the daughter of William and Mary LYNCH and was born about 1812 in Tipperary, Ireland.
On 30 June 1850, Margaret aged 38, emigrated from Ireland as a Widow with her two children, Mary aged 18 and William aged 14. They left Plymouth in Devon, England aboard the ship "Kate" arriving in Sydney on 13 October 1850. According to the Shipping Indent and Immigration Inspection List, Margaret and Mary were Farm Servants and William was a Farm Labourer. They were natives of Tipperary, Ireland, Roman Catholic, were all in good health and William could read and write. Margaret's parents were named as William and Mary Lynch, both dead and she had a brother, James Lynch living at Broulee, on the NSW south coast. Margaret's husband and the father of Mary and William was named as James Sweeney. They paid £2 each.
Also on board the ship "Kate" were Margaret's brothers, William LYNCH (c.1820-1894) and his wife Mary TRACEY and Edward LYNCH (c.1822-1892).
On 17 February 1851, Margaret Sweeney of Moruya married Edward GOULDING of Mogo, in Broulee, Moruya, NSW. They were married in the presence of Edward Lynch of Moruya and Catherine of Moruya.
Edward died in 1861.
Margaret died on 19 June 1890 in Wellington St, Collingwood, Victoria, after falling and injuring her hip. She was also suffering from senility. She was buried on 21 June 1890 at the General Cemetery, Melbourne. The informant was a medical doctor and the only information he provided was that she was married and was born in Ireland.
James SWEENEY and Margaret LYNCH had the following children:
1. Mary SWEENEY. Mary was born about 1832 in Tipperary, Ireland.
